Sam Lacey a center in the 1970's who never found a successful team, dies last Friday at his home in Kansas City home at the age of 66 years.His daughter Gretchen Downey says the cause has yet to be determined.
Playing most of his 13 NBA seasons with the Cincinnati Royals who became the Kansas City Kings and are now known as the Sacramento Kings. He was a hardy rebounder and shot blocker at 6 feet 10 inches and weighing 235 pounds.
Sam Lacey career average for point and rebounds were 10.3 points per game and 9.7 rebounds.
In addition to his daughter Gretchen, he lives on by two other daughters, Alires Almon and Barri Davis-Richardson; a brother, Ike; and four grandchildren.
The Sacramento Kings have paid tribute to Sam Lacey and now display his jersey No. 44 at the arena as part of the Kings family tree.
